Diva's Challenge # 126 - Stencils!
Hello Everyone!
Its Ramadan time and in this part of the world we have shortened working hours. Which means completing a regular work day in shortened time. And because of this Ive not been able to complete Sandy Hunter's recent Kickstarter!!!! :(( I began my piece and couldnt yet finish it....Its a wonder I finished this one in time!....
So this week the Diva called for us to use a Stencil. But unfortunately I dont have stencils. I also saw Margaret Bremner's Post and I still was clueless what to use as a Stencil. And then it struck me!
A few months ago I had downloaded some coloring pages as I wanted to paint on some tees for my nephew. He is a huge fan of Angry Birds and the Pea Shooter....:) So for his birthday I got him a few Tees and painted these figures on them. I had also downloaded this picture of a SUN. Now I simply loved the picture and it looked like a Stencil to me.
So I re-created the SUN and tangled inside it. I have used Paushalov & Diva Dance....:)
Cheers....

Diva's Challenge # 125 - UMT - Birdie Feet
Hello Everyone!
So this week it is UMT Week and we are to use Bridie's Feet by Owl Loving April...:)
I have used String 057 and the patterns Good Joss / Sindoo / Miasma & Meer (border) & ofcourse Birdie's Feet. I love trying out the new patterns that come up every so often and this is the first time Ive used these - except Meer ofcourse! Ive used MEER in the past. Generally when a new pattern is posted by Linda Farmer, Im always afraid to try it. I feel it will never turn out well. But then I try it out and I fall in Love with some and SINDOO is one of them....:-)
SINDOO looks so lovely! I need to do more of SINDOO. I love the flowery pattern....
I would like to take this opportunity to say a couple of things - I posted some information on Zentangle on my blog for the newbies. I joined a Group on Facebook - Friends of Zentangle and every now and then I used to see posts by many asking how to go about learning this wonderful art form that we have all come to love so much. And then when a dear friend wanted more information I decided to post this article here to help her and many like her. In my effort and enthusiasm I made a Boo Boo which I EDITED in time...(Thank God for Michelle and Deena)..:)
I also wanted to apologize for that error. I didnt know that CZT's could be certified by ONLY Maria & Rick. I must have missed seeing that somewhere and made that mistake. So sorry folks. I only wanted to help out the newbies because I remember my own journey which I began a year ago.
This also brings me to the topic of becoming a CZT - a dream I had till I knew this information. My coming to the US and being certified by Maria & Rick now seem a little remote....:( I dont know if I will ever be able to make the trip and be certified. I do hope that one day I can do it and be known as a CZT myself. (fingers crossed)...
Ok I guess thats enough of talk so lets get down to business.....My Entry for the Weekly Challenge # 125 -

A Helping Hand - For Newbies & Of Tributes and Inspirations
Hello My Fellow Tanglers and a Warm Welcome to the Newbies...:)
I have noticed that there are many art enthusiasts (including a friend) who are intrigued by Zentangle and would like to know more about it and how to learn to draw Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA). So here is a little something on Zentangle. I hope it is helpful for all those who are interested in learning this ZEN Art form!....:)
Zentangle - a form of art I had no idea about until I took up classes in art with Patric Rozario. He introduced me to doodles and tangles. He ofcourse never mentioned ZENTANGLE per se but encouraged me to find out all on my own and here I am today, almost a year from where I began, tangling away!!!....
My very first inspiration was ofcourse my teacher, Patric Rozario, who re-introduced me into this wonderful world of art. I used to paint and sketch as a child and teen but I let it slide when life and other priorities took precedence. Something which I regret. But as they say better late than never!
When I learned more about doodling I began browsing through the world wide web for more on it and one fine day I chanced upon ZENTANGLE. Many of us wouldnt be doing what we love best today if it were not for Rick and Maria who popularised this form of art! It has made many of us who were afraid to pick up a pencil and draw a straight line let alone a piece of art!
As I learned more and more patterns, all thanks to Linda Farmer and her wonderful site Tangle Patterns, I began looking at works of other artists like me and also some CZT's. I havent been able to view the works of ALL the CZT's but the few that Ive seen thus far have all been inspirations in one form or the other. Today, I would like to thank all of them, and yes everyone of you whose works Ive seen, (Pardon me for not remembering all your names) but ALL of you, who post in the Challenegs have ALL inspired me in one way or the other.
I would like to make a special mention of these few artists in particular as I visit their web page almost on a daily basis. Even on those days when Im so Un-ZEN like I peek in to see what they have created and it makes my heart flutter.
Now that Im done with the AWE factor, a little about how to do this......
WHAT is ZENTANGLE?
The creators say it best "Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Almost anyone can use it to create beautiful images. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being. The Zentangle method is enjoyed all over this world across a wide range of skills, interests and ages. We believe that life is an art form and that our Zentangle method is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life. We invite you to explore our web site and learn more about this wonderful and uplifting method and artform."...
Who is a CZT? (EDITED)
Certified Zentangle Teachers are those artists who have completed a COURSE on ZENTANGLE conducted by Maria & Rick ONLY (EDITED). You can find a list of CZT's on the blog.
Patterns - Where to find them & Links
There are hundreds of patterns and I wouldnt worry about learning them ALL right now, if I were you. I am going to write about only a FEW Artists & their work from whose pages you can learn more about Zentangle.

Diva's Challenge # 123 - Is it a Zentangle?????
Hello Everyone!
Time for the Challenge once again and this week its about using patterns that are not our regular Tangles..:) Now it did seem rather simple to me when I first saw it. In India , Henna patterning is rather common as we pattern our hands with Henna for every auspicious occasion or festival...but when I got down to it, it didnt seem all that simple. And yet I have 2 entries...:) I couldnt stop once I started....:)

Diva's Challenge # 121 - UMT - Birds on a Wire....
Hello Everyone,
It has been ages since I've really felt that ZEN to do my art. I haven't participated in the last few Challenges of the Diva nor the Monotangle Adventure. I've only done the Zendala Dare and last week skipped that one too.
I was so miffed with myself and finally decided to shake off the negative aura around me and get busy doing what I love best - ART. I woke up on June 1st 2013 and said to myself "Today is a new day...no more negative vibes. Think POSITIVE. ONLY POSITIVE THOUGHTS!...",,,,,
And then I began some art work. Im in the process of doing a painting in acrylics. Im not happy with the way it looks thus far. But Im plodding on. Im not going to stop now. I finally put pen to paper and did this Challenge. And I Loved it! I had fun doing it.....:)

Zendala Dare # 58
Hi Folks!
Its been a while since Ive posted. Im usually prompt with the Monotangle Dare and the Diva's Challenge but I havent posted them in the last 2 or 3 weeks. Ive only posted the Zendala.
Zentangle is supposed to relax you and make you feel good. And it has been my balm on many many occasions. Yet these past few weeks Ive been unable to pick up my pen and tangle. I did complete the 'Kuke' Challenge but havent yet posted it.
This weekend I swore I would tangle and began a large piece. I havent finished it yet. But I hope to have it done and posted here by the end of the week.
Well, here is my entry for this week's Zendala

Zendala Dare # 54.....
Hiya Folks!
Its been ages since Ive posted a Dare. And my apologies for that Erin. But now Im on a new project for these Zendalas.
I must say that its because of these Zendalas that some of my friends remember me by!..:) Till now Ive always done 'em on an A4 sheet of paper. And I do the BIG Template. Recently on my trip back home to India I bought these lovely journals made of handmade paper. Ofcourse I was looking for something entirely different but I love these.
And so began my lil project....Im redoing ALL the Zendala Dares from 1 till 50 on the A4 Size Pad (I will soon post a few that Ive finished) and from Dare 51 onwards Ive begun doing them on the smaller version of it (A5 Size). Now let me remind you Im not used to doing these on a smaller template so yes, it was quite a challenge for me to keep it simple and small...:P
Well I hope you like it...:)
And so going backwards.... From Dare # 54...to 51..... (The yellowy things are cuz its handmade paper)

Diva's Challenge # 114 - Stars in Ur Eyes!...
Hello People!
And its time for the Challenge by the Diva..:) I have been doing all the Challenges from No. 1, though I don't really post them here. Its basically a sort of practice for me. But when I read Laura's blog about revisiting the past I decided to post both my pieces...:)
Art has in many ways been my 'go to' place and has given me much comfort. In one of my previous posts I had mentioned having a FULL DIARY....well it is true!
Every day I practice Pencil Sketching and sometimes Charcoal. I have another blog where I post my Daily Sketches. Some days I don't get to post for various reasons but I try my maximum to post it - reason - accountability. This is my other Blog...
I also do my Daily Tangles - again something which I don't post here. I do the Diva;s Challenges, Erin's Zendala Dares & Roy's Monotangles. I havent posted a Zendala Dare in a while. But I keep doing them.
Added to all of this on weekends I practice a bit of Acrylics and Watercolors. Im soon going to begin a Course on Watercolor as I very much would like to perfect it. Right now Im all thumbs when it comes to Watercolors.....
So well, thats my ART-sy Life...:))
So here goes.....:)

Diva's Challenge # 113 - Hip to be Square....
Howdy Folks!
So yesterday we experienced some mild tremors here in Doha, Qatar. Apparantly Doha decided to do the Harlem Shake...:) On a serious note it was the aftershocks of the earthquake in Iran and we are ALL fine here...:)
I was in the middle of my Challenge when we were asked to evacuate and I was staring down at my work, wondering if I should take ALL my art with me or just leave it. Yup! I know it sounds crazy but at such moments one never knows HOW to react!
Well all is well on this side of the world. I do hope and pray that the people in Iran are getting the much needed help at this time. Praying for all those who lost loved ones and for those who survived...
