Diva's Challenge # 122 - Grid (Un) Locked

Hello Everyone!
 
When I first saw the Newsletter and the grid posted by Maria I was a bit confused as to how to make it work! And then I tried out a few rough sketches. It looked good!...:)
 
So here is my entry to this Challenge - Grid Unlocked....! I hope Ive done it right....
