Lazy Day..

Ok so am now HOOKED to tangling!...:)

So before we wmbark on our journey, what exactly IS Zentangling??? Art using patterns has been around from time immemorial and we may not be aware but many of us doodle while we are distracted. Those little strokes that your pen makes while you are on the phone or just idly gazing out - those are doodles and giving them a structure is tangling or Zentangling.

Maria and Rick have perfected this form of art and have given us what we know today as ZENTANGLES. You can read and learn more about it on their web site.

How did I get hooked? Good question! Well I did say in my very first post that I took up art once again with Patric Rozario. I decided to first do his 12 module course. Im still very much a beginner and have completed only a few modules. I still have a long way to go!...:)

He never used the term Zentangle while teaching me. In fact all he said was use random patterns and doodle. Draw a field and fill it. I began my 'doodling' and just hated every piece I did...it just didnt look right to me. Patric then left on his summer holiday and I being a curious one decided to learn more about this art form called doodling and tangling. Surfing the world wide web I chanced upon Rick & Maria's site. And Lo Behold! I finally had it!

Patric always says that anyone can become an artist. It just needs practice. Hours and hours of practice. And so began my journey into this beautiful world. Im posting a piece that I did while everyone at work was away at meetings and I had a lot of time to kill.

When Patric came back from holiday and asked me what I did when he was away I was brimming with information...I told him all about Zentangles and went on and on and finally he laughed and said he never told me about it when we started as he wanted me to find out all about it on my own....!...I must say it has been such a wonderful journey! I am so hooked onto Zentangles!

I will ofcourse be posting more pictures of my art work as I progress. Ive done some charcoal work and fabric painting and some on pottery. I did Zendalas on my pot...:)))))

I hope you all will like this. Im not exactly a professional and no where near to the expertise of Rick or Maria or the many other people who are such experts at Zentangling...:)

Cheers

Art...

As a child the one thing that kept me occupied for hours on end was art. Color Pencils, Crayons, Paints and Paper were my constant companions.

As I grew older, art took a back seat. Life and its myriad facets became priority. Somewhere along the way I missed my art. I missed those many long hours with vibrant colors!

One day I chanced upon an advertisement by Patric Rozario. A deadly fire in a well known Mall here took the lives of 13 innocent young babies. Patric was holding a workshop for adults and kids alike. He was making gifts of art in memory of those little ones we lost to the negligence of a few adults.

Reading his blog I was transported back into a world I fell in love with as a child. The world of art. Im not a professional and I would say Im very much an amateur. But I wanted to explore this wonderful world again!

With much apprehension, I signed up for his 12 Module Course and life has never been the same again!

I will be uploading pictures of the work I have done. This is an introduction to that beautiful world which has in many ways been my safe haven. I do hope you enjoy my work as much as I have enjoyed putting them on paper...:)

Cheers!
